Felsenbühne Waldstein Open-Air Theatre

The stage of this open-air theatre is right at the summit of the Großer Waldstein. Every summer it hosts the Waldstein Festival.

The Waldstein Festival plays are staged by a non-profit association with 150 members. Tickets are available from the Spa & Tourist Information.

The history of the Waldstein Festival:

From 1923 to 1925 the Münchberg branch of the Fichtelgebirgsverein (Fichtel Mountains Club) performed “Des Waldsteins Wunderblume” (The Waldstein’s Magic Flower). In 1929 audiences could enjoy the play “Des Roten Schlosses Untergang” (The Fall of the Red Castle).
