Sack’s Destille

Fine spirits are made to traditional recipes at Sack's Destille.

For almost 150 years, this small distillery has been producing fine spirits
from plants typical of the Fichtel Mountains. It was forest berries and
bitter herbs that inspired Carl Sack in 1864 to create a liqueur from the fine
bounty gathered by the hard-working local women who worked in the forest.

Today, Weißenstadt’s spirited liquid specialities are still made just as they were 100 years ago. In the back building of the property on Kirchenlamitzer Straße, the fifth generation is distilling high-proof spirits. The recipes have been handed down through the generations of the Sack family. The gourmet magazine FEINSCHMECKER counts the distillery among the best addresses in Bavaria.

In 2021, Sack’s Destille was named Business of the Year.

Four people stand smiling in front of shelves of bottles at Sack’s Destille. One person holds a trophy. A sign in front reads “Betrieb des Jahres Bayern 2021” (Business of the Year, Bavaria 2021), with a golden crown above the text.
